The meeting focused on the current energy situation in the City and Region due to the ongoing massive shelling of critical infrastructure by the occupiers, as well as the further development of the electricity sector in the Region.
At the beginning of the event, Herman Galushchenko noted that although the consequences of missile attacks on energy infrastructure in the frontline Region are among the most serious in Ukraine, all the damage will be gradually repaired.
‘Now, we understand which important chains of our power system need to be strengthened. Our priority is decentralization of generation, and we are already implementing it. Kharkiv Region is a powerful industrial region where we need to provide more generation to cover consumption as much as possible in case of grid damage,’ the Minister emphasized.
In his turn, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov noted that Kharkiv is one of the most affected cities in Ukraine, and in difficult conditions, the utility companies are trying to quickly eliminate the consequences of damage to the grids.
‘The Municipal Enterprise ‘Kharkivski Teplovi Merezhi’ plays an important role in ensuring the normal functioning of our City supplying heat and hot water. During this time, the company has not stopped working for a single day while eliminating the consequences of terrorist attacks. The shelling damaged more than 120 facilities of the company. The estimated cost of restoration is more than a billion UAH,’ the Mayor emphasized.
