Norman Foster Foundation to participate in the development of a memorial to war victims Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov approached renowned British architect Norman Foster with a proposal to create a memorial complex that will perpetuate the memory of the victims of Russia's armed aggression and become a symbol of Kharkiv's resilience.

As part of the online meeting, the mayor discussed with Norman Foster cooperation in designing a symbolic place that would remind of the tragedy of the war, honour the memory of the victims and at the same time reflect the resilience of Kharkiv.

‘It is very important for us to properly preserve the memory of all those who were taken by the war. This cannot be neglected. We have too big a wound that will never heal, but there should be a place where people can remember the victims, express their gratitude, sorrow and respect,’ said Igor Terekhov.
Norman Foster, whose foundation is developing the concept of the Kharkiv Master Plan, agreed to join this initiative.

The parties agreed to move on to discussing the details of the project in order to start designing in the near future.
