Igor Terekhov discusses Kharkiv's reconstruction in Prague Today, on 16 January, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov met with the Director of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic, Jaroslav Zaicek.

The main topic of the talks was the prospects for international cooperation aimed at restoring Kharkiv and strengthening its strategic potential.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed key aspects of cooperation, including military support, restoration of critical infrastructure, energy security and opportunities for long-term cooperation.

Ihor Terekhov stressed the importance of the Czech Republic's assistance and underlined that despite regular shelling by the aggressor country, Kharkiv is constantly working on the prospects of sustainable development.

‘The support of the Czech Republic is extremely important for us, as it contributes not only to strengthening our defence capabilities, but also to promoting Ukraine as an outpost of democratic values. Kharkiv is now home to 1.2 million people, including 200,000 internally displaced persons, and the development of the city, despite all the difficulties, remains our priority,’ said Igor Terekhov.

For his part, Jaroslav Zaichek confirmed the Czech Republic's readiness to support Kharkiv. He stressed the importance of creating a global plan for Ukraine's recovery, similar to the Marshall Plan, which should become a model for the country's future economic and infrastructure growth.
‘We support the ambitious plans to rebuild Kharkiv. The idea of creating a Ukrainian ‘Marshall Plan’ can show the world a vision of Ukraine's prosperous future. The Czech Republic is ready to assist in all aspects of recovery and development,’ said Jaroslav Začek.
