Spiritual interfaith centre to be created in Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov met with representatives of religious communities of various denominations in Kharkiv today, 18 December.

During the event, the clergymen came up with an initiative to create a spiritual interfaith centre on the territory of the city cemetery No. 18, where the Walk of Fame is located. The mayor fully supported this proposal."

We will do it together. This is a very good initiative, in particular, so that we can honour the memory of our defenders with dignity," said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor instructed to collect proposals for the development of the project and noted that this centre will become an important symbol of Kharkiv's unity.

Military chaplain Serhiy Putilin, in turn, said that similar centres are already being set up in many military units across Ukraine.

"There are Orthodox, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim attributes there. Anyone can come there for a service or prayer," he said.

Other issues were also discussed at the meeting. In particular, attention was paid to veterans' policy, mental health, rehabilitation of military personnel and internally displaced persons, and the involvement of religious communities in the implementation of social programmes.
