‘Virtual Memorial of Memory’ opened in Kharkiv On 6 December, on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a multimedia interactive stele ‘Virtual Memorial of Memory’ was unveiled at cemetery No. 18.

The interactive plaque is a database of the fallen defenders of Ukraine, which allows you to find the burial place, learn more about their lives, awards, circumstances of their deaths, and view archival photos and videos through electronic navigation.

The unveiling of the stele was attended by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, families of the fallen heroes, and representatives of public associations.

The mayor thanked the families of the fallen soldiers and activists for joining the project.

‘It is symbolic that we are opening this memorial on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We wanted to draw attention to the value of every human life, to perpetuate the memory of the heroes who stood up to defend Ukraine. This memorial is our gratitude to those who gave their lives for our freedom,’ said Igor Terekhov.

According to the mayor, next year, work will continue on the arrangement of military graves on the Walk of Fame and the development of the memorial complex project.

Currently, the Virtual Memorial of Memory contains almost 100 stories of soldiers who are buried both on the Walk of Fame and in other cemeteries in Kharkiv. The project's uniqueness lies in the fact that all data is encrypted in QR codes and allows you to quickly find a grave.

The virtual memorial was developed jointly with the families of the victims, volunteers, and the public. The multimedia stele itself, which is based on Touch Screen technology, was donated to the city by the charity organisation ‘Care Kharkiv’.
