According to Yulia Zgurska, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Deputy Head of the Working Group on the Implementation of Measures within the framework of the work of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO), the parties discussed the need to inscribe not only the Derzhprom building but also the entire Freedom Square ensemble on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This will facilitate their enhanced protection. They also reviewed the extent of damage to the architectural monument as a result of the hostile shelling that occurred on 28 October.

‘The organisation is ready to help the city with the expedited procedure for inscribing the site on the World Heritage List. The entire process should be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, which has expressed its readiness to cooperate. We plan to hold a meeting to discuss the details of the nomination dossier required for further work on the restoration and protection of the State Industrial Complex,’ said Zgurska.

UNESCO representatives also noted that the organisation is ready to fund the work of experts who will help to prepare the nomination dossier for inscription of the entire Freedom Square ensemble on the World Heritage List. In addition, the mayor's office of the twin city of Warsaw is ready to join the work.
